Holtwhites Bowls Club

The bowls section was originally formed in 1915 when it was a railway club owned by LNER, later becoming G.N.A.A and then B.R.S.A and in 1994 when British Rail withdrew funding it became Holtwhites Bowls Club.

The club has one of the best greens in the County and has its own dedicated clubhouse and changing rooms.

We are a very friendly club, renowned for our hospitality and have a good mix of competitive and social bowlers. We have entries in National, County, local competitions and there are a full programme of matches including ladies and men’s leagues plus a substantial number of mixed friendlies that all members are encouraged to participate in.

However, those colleagues who wish to bowl on a purely social basis are considered equally valued members of the club.

Monday evening is 'Club Night', where teams are drawn to give a good balance of experience, competing over a number of weeks on a league basis. The majority of people stay to enjoy a social drink after the game and normally accompanied with sausages in rolls.

There are 'more casual' roll ups several times a week, when new bowlers can find themselves paired with and learning from the more experienced players in the club.

New members of all ages and abilities are very welcome and coaching sessions are run on Saturday mornings and other times by arrangement. For more information please contact our Membership Secretary: Keith Comley on 07914 587574.

For more extensive details of the club please see our website: Holtwhites Bowls Club.

Membership of the bowls section also includes social membership at Holtwhites Sports & Social Club.
